About Edison Lin
Hi, I’m Edison, a Computer Information Systems graduate from Colorado State University Pueblo with a specialization in Cybersecurity. I’m passionate about building real-world experience through hands-on infrastructure and systems administration projects.
As the Network Administrator of my personal homelab, I manage a self-hosted IT environment for continuous learning and experimentation. I maintain a VMware ESXi server running multiple virtual machines, simulate enterprise networks, and deploy real-world security protocols. My environment features an AsusWRT firewall with custom VPNs and VLAN segmentation for secure network isolation. I’ve also implemented Zero Trust architecture using Cloudflare Tunnel and Access integrated with Okta IdP.
- Setting up Cloudflare Tunnel and Access with Okta IdP for Zero Trust remote access
- Establishing secure site-to-site VPN connections with Cisco Meraki
- Deploying Cloudflare Load Balancers for Bosch Conettix systems
- Installing and maintaining CAT6 cabling for network devices and PoE cameras
- Administering UniFi Protect with RAID5 storage for surveillance systems
- Managing Cisco switches via WebUI and keeping firewall systems regularly updated
- Operating a Windows Server 2022 Domain Controller with Active Directory
- Deploying Apache Guacamole for secure, browser-based remote desktop access
- Set up Cisco VG224, Cisco SPA112/122, and PolyCom Obi202 for VoIP operations.
Security Systems Experience
I have worked extensively with a variety of security and alarm systems across residential and commercial environments. Systems I’ve configured, maintained, or supported include:
- Honeywell MS-10UD, Vista 15P/20P
- DMP XT-50 and XR150
- DSC PC1616
- Radionics D7212
- Bosch B4512
- 2GIG GC2
- GE NetworX
- Maintaining Bosch D6600/D6100, Sur-Gard MLR2, and DMP SCS-1R receivers for monitoring applications
IT Support and Troubleshooting
As an IT Help Desk Technician at CSU Pueblo, I provided technical support using tools such as TeamViewer, QuickAssist, LogMeIn, osTicket, and FreshDesk. I worked directly with end users to resolve hardware and software issues, configured campus systems using Active Directory, and supported deployments involving Windows systems and lab equipment. I also mentored new student technicians and handled network troubleshooting using ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine.
Leadership & Tech Operations
Through my leadership in CSU Pueblo’s eSports Club, I managed the team’s gaming systems, built and upgraded PCs, and coordinated software installations and updates. I also handled Discord server moderation, roster management, and club promotion. This role combined IT problem-solving with team coordination and community management.
Small Business IT Management
At Pepper Asian Bistro, I’ve been responsible for all technical operations including managing Windows-based systems, improving wireless reliability through network infrastructure upgrades, and supporting Unifi SD-LAN environments. I’ve installed and maintained Unifi and HikVision surveillance cameras, NVRs, and configured Star TSP100 receipt printers. Additionally, I handled POS system upgrades and provided tech support to ensure daily business operations ran smoothly.
